Senior Thermal Design Verification Engineer Microsoft - Redmond, WA, US

Role & Opportunity:
The Surface Team is seeking qualified candidates for a Thermal Verification Engineer. You will be responsible for the design verification and qualification of Surface thermal system architecture. You will develop comprehensive design verification strategies and plans that bridge high-level use cases to product architecture/design to effectively and systematically reveal and verify design and production defects. You will provide critical analysis on test data and drive the right solutions, design changes, and trade-off in the context of business priorities. On a frequent basis, you will create and introduce innovative test techniques and methods to ensure robust product qualification. In addition, you will utilize your knowledge of critical performance data and your statistical data analysis techniques to set product test requirements and limits. You will develop test methodologies and plans, execute test procedures, debug/bring-up and project-manage qualification cycles. You will be a key player in the team, the quality, functionality to specification will be your responsibility to drive and deliver. Ensuring end customer delight in Surface products.

Qualifications:
•Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar field
•5 years’ experience designing and testing modern electronics hardware.
•Experience with PC architecture and thermal architectures. Familiar with thermal control and mitigation techniques for PC, Tabler or consumer hardware.
•Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, failure analysis, and yield improvement
•Ability to write test documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports
•Project management skills. Ability to take ownership of assigned platforms and/or subsystems, and be responsible for test deliverables and schedules.
•Proven test subject matter expert with thought leadership well seek out in the cross functional team
•Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms
•Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment
The ability to comprehend and assimilate technical concepts across multiple disciplines is a plus
•Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
•Domestic and international travel may be required
